Insomnia and sleep issues

We all know that sleep is important. It plays a vital role in both our physical and mental health. A lack of good quality sleep can, as well as making us feel tired, lead to low levels of concentration, difficulty with thinking clearly, irritability, anxiety and depression. 

It is estimated that around a third of people in the UK have episodes of insomnia during their lives. It can affect anyone at any age. However, people over the age of 60 and women appear to be more susceptible.

Your insomnia or sleep issues may include trouble falling asleep (longer than 30-40 minutes), sleeping lightly and restlessly and waking often, or waking too early and not being unable to get back to sleep.

Top Tip  - Turn off tablets, phones and laptops at least 2 hours before you want to sleep.

In your first hypnotherapy session we will look at any practical or emotional issues that may be stopping you from enjoying good quality sleep, using the latest research findings. We will also address unhelpful negative thinking about your sleep and replace this, in hypnosis, with more positive expectations. You will leave our session with a list of practical suggestions, including possible changes to your 'sleep hygiene' and be asked to keep a sleep diary.


Further sessions will include learning relaxation techniques for getting off to sleep, methods to halt the repetitive thoughts that go round and round whilst lying in bed, self hypnosis and hypnosis for mind clearing and mind focusing.    

I will also give you a copy of a recording to listen to at home to reinforce the hypnotic suggestions made during the sessions and to listen to at night if you want, to help you get to sleep.
