What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is hypnosis used for theraputic purposes. It is used to encourage your unconscious mind to find solutions to problems.

People usually experience hypnosis as very comfortable, pleasant and relaxing. It is connected to deep relaxation and will be familiar to you if you have ever:

• daydreamed
• been really absorbed in a book, a TV programme or a film to the exclusion of everything aound you
• have practiced meditation
• have been driving & arrived at your destination without realising or noticing the journey

You may have heard of the term "trance". Trance and hypnosis are the same. When a person is in "trance" or "hypnosis" they become more aware of their inner thoughts; feelings and sensations. This allows the conscious mind (the critical, analytical mind) to be bypassed therefore allowing the creative mind (the subconscious mind) to be more receptive to positive and beneficial suggestions.

Hypnotherapy is a natural, safe and effective way to make positive and beneficial life changes.

According to the Health Education Authority: "Research shows that there is more scientific evidence for hypnotherapy than any other complementary therapy"
